Before Rebekah was born, Stephen and Lisa could leave their kids with grandma and grandpa and take a skiing vacation in Colorado. That's Stephen in the hottub with their friend Doug from Fremont and Lisa's brother Ed.

After Rebekah was born, Lisa can take trips to WalMart to buy more diapers.

Before Rebekah was born, Stephen and Lisa worried about Rachel heading off for her first day of kindergarten! 
 Mom and Dad were worried for nothing! Rachel loves school, and even enjoys the bus ride to and from school. She seems to be doing pretty well, and is learning to read and write more and more every day. Rachel is still taking violin lessons which makes for some tiring days. Her six year old body is usually pretty tired after a long day of school, but she is making progress with the violin and seems to enjoy playing. |
After Rebekah was born, Stephen rushes to get Rachel on the school bus at 7:35 every Tuesday and Thursday morning on his way to his own 8:00 a.m. class. 
Actually the hardest adjustment when Rachel went to kindergarten was for Abby. She really misses having her big sister around! Abby is three and a half and is old enough to want to do the same things Rachel does, but not actually old enough to do them! One of her favorite things to do to pass the time until Rachel gets home is "Home Preschool" every Thursday. Lisa and Abby learn about a new letter each week. |
Before Rebekah was born, Lisa had time to sew halloween cosutmes for the girls.

After Rebekah was born, Lisa had time to sew a cat tail for Rachel, borrow a cow costume for Rebekah and dress Abby as Snow White, again.

Before Rebekah was born, Rachel and Abby carried our new cat Viejo (acquired in February) around like a sack of potatoes. 
Rachel and Abby are usually pretty good helpers when taking care of Rebekah. Abby even loves throwing diapers away! One of their favorite things to do is to help give her a bath.

After Rebekah was born, Rachel and Abby still carry Viejo around like a sack of potatoes, but thankfully they have been treating Rebekah more carefully.

Before Rebekah was born, Rachel and Abby pretended their dolls and stuffed animals were babies

After Rebekah was born, Rachel and Abby have a real live baby to play with.

Before Rebekah was born, We wondered if our family was complete.

After Rebekah was born, we are pretty sure it is!

Before Rebekah was born, Stephen had time to take a nap with one of his girls.

After Rebekah was born, well, some things never change! 
|
And that about does it for our year. Guests
are welcome in Pella any time, but Tulip Time in May offers photo
opportunities like the one on the right!
